Mass Times

Christ Be Our Light

During this preparatory season of Advent, we invite you to reflect and participate in our parish Advent theme:

Christ Be Our Light

Each week of Advent will have a particular focus and an opportunity to bring Christ’s light to our Home, Community, Nation, and World. May the four, short weeks of Advent be an opportunity to grow in love as St. Paul reminds us,

“May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you, so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones.”

Advent Missions

Wednesday, December 1, 2021 / 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Led by Fr. Curt Frederick

The Mission is based on The Gift of Sunday, a theological reflection issued by Archbishop Jerome Listecki. Please join us for a beautiful prayer service and presentation that encourages everyone to come to Mass and rediscover Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist — this Advent Season and beyond!

St. John the Baptist is one of 18 Advent Missions taking place throughout the archdiocese on December 1.

Light our Community

We are partnering with the Salvation Army and ‘adopting’ families in Plymouth and surrounding areas. Each family member will be gifted three separate gifts (two needs and one want). Each gift will be listed separately on its own WHITE STAR.

If you would like to help organize (and wrap) gifts, plan to stay after Mass on Sunday, Dec 5 for some festive time at ‘Santa’s workshop,’ aka The Gathering Place.

Light our Nation

Let’s send some Christmas cheer to all service members and veterans connected to the SJB parish/Plymouth community!

  • Pick up a BLUE STAR (with a name on it) at Mass the weekend of Dec 4 & 5 (or at the parish office after Dec 4 & 5)

  • Address, note, and sign a Christmas card (purchased or homemade)

  • Bring your Christmas card back to Mass Dec 11 & 12 & place it at the foot of the altar! (or at the parish office prior to Dec 11 & 12)

Please do NOT seal the envelope. We will be adding a prayer card before delivery.

Make sure to put the service member’s name (with room for mailing address) or name of the facility on the envelope.

When signing the card, please use first names only and include “-St John the Baptist parishioner”

Light our World

Let’s join in the light around the world by praying with and for our sisters and brothers connected to Zeru Zeru, Inc.!

  • Take a PRAYER CARD that has the name and picture of someone connected to our twinning relationship with Zeru Zeru, Inc. from the baskets at the doors (or the parish office).

  • Pray for the individual on the card.

  • Keep the prayer card.

Use the prayer on the back if helpful and bring them into your prayers this Advent and Christmas season. They are praying for us; let’s complete the circle and pray for them as well.
